Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, liebe Freund*innen und Kolleg*innen, verehrtes Publikum,

bevor wir das Jahr verabschieden, präsentieren wir noch ein Advents-Quartett an Premieren: Anne Habermehl erzählt in Outland in vier Stationen über gesellschaftliche wie individuelle Ausgrenzungsmechanismen, copy & waste zeigen in ihrem COPYSHOP OF HORRORS die zweite Hälfte ihrer vierteiligen Performanceserie zu Stadt und Natur und schließen mit einem fulminanten Bingewatch-Finale, internil beschäftigt sich im dritten Teil seiner GOG / MAGOG Reihe mit Israel, vergangenen und gegenwärtigen Grenzen sowie Grenzverletzungen. Und Dasniya Sommer und Florian Loycke präsentieren ihre Version der Geschichte des berühmtesten aller dänischen Prinzen in Hamlet und seine Geister.

Wer lieber ins Theater anstatt auf den Weihnachtsmarkt geht, hat diesen Monat eine große Auswahl: Tucké Royale zeigt im Maxim Gorki Theater noch einmal sein jüdisches Rachemusical Mit Dolores habt ihr nicht gerechnet und Das Helmi La Montagna Magica. She She Pop klappen in Schubladen erneut die deutsch-deutschen Geschichts- und Tagebücher auf. Eliza Rescue Team reisen mit Report from the Interior nach Riga, Christoph Winkler mit Hauptrolle nach Jena, Flinn Works mit Global Belly nach Amsterdam und She She Pop mit FRÜHLINGSOPFER nach Baden.

Outland erzählt in vier Stationen von Ausgrenzung, durch die Gesellschaft, durch sich selbst, durch den eigenen Körper. Liebe, Familie, Arbeit – was unsere sozialen Bindungen definiert und uns fest verankert, wird in Anne Habermehls Stück unwiderruflich gekappt. Plötzlich klafft zwischen „Ich“ und „den anderen“ eine große Lücke, die erst wieder mit Sinn gefüllt werden muss, und die Grundsatzfrage aufwirft, wie wir als Gesellschaft mit Versehrung umgehen.

„Schmerzvoll-poetisch“ (Spiegel), „mit Dialogen, die, obwohl sie aus schmucklosen, knappen Sätzen bestehen, so viel Tiefe ausstrahlen“ (nachtkritik) „spiegelt Anne Habermehl das Politische in den Narben des Privaten“ (Theater Heute). 

In den Sophiensælen bringt die junge Dramatikerin nun erstmals ein neues Stück in freier Produktion zur Uraufführung.

copy & waste lädt Kolleg*innen aus Wissenschaft und Kunst zum gemeinsamen Erkunden der Stadt als Natur ein. Inwiefern ist heutiges urbanes Leben überhaupt noch ein Gegensatz zur Natur? Diese Frage führt von den Gemeinschaftsgärten, die seit einigen Jahren vermehrt zu alternativen Gemeinschafts- und Wirtschaftsmodellen werden, zu komplexen Fragen des Klimawandels. In einem Ladenlokal werden verschiedene Themenaspekte getanzt, gespielt, diskutiert und gesungen. Erarbeitet wird eine vierteilige Performanceserie von copy & waste und drei weiteren künstlerischen Teams. Fiktionale Grundlage ist dabei das Musical Little Shop Of Horrors.

Stammesland. Heiliges Land. Wer hat ein Recht darauf? Wer gibt ihm seinen Namen? Wer erzählt seine Geschichte, in welcher Sprache, und wie? Die Spur der Toten in Wasser und Sand ist eine heilige Schrift und Krieg die Maschine, die sie schreibt und liest. 

Auf der dritten Etappe stößt die Reisegruppe GOG / MAGOG an vergangene und gegenwärtige Grenzen, Grenzverletzungen. Ja und Nein, Recht und Unrecht, Freiheit und Zwang, High und Low Tech wechseln die Seiten und zerren uns mit. Stopp, Kontrolle, sagt GOG. Wer wagt es hier „wir“ zu sagen?

Hamlet ist der Held, der sich in der eigenen Geschichte immer mehr verstrickt und schließlich, wenn er stürzt, die halbe Welt mitreißt – am Ende sind alle tot und es kommt Fortinbras. Jedes Mal fängt er den Abend an und sucht fieberhaft nach einem Ausweg. Doch jedes Mal muss er auch feststellen, dass alle Wege so raffiniert kombiniert sind, dass er wie in einem Alptraum immer wieder zum gleichen Finale gelangt. So beginnt er, sich unterwegs die großen Fragen zu stellen oder er begegnet seinem Alter Ego Ophelia und probiert auch mit ihrer Hilfe neue Identitäten aus. Wer manipuliert wen, wer hängt in wessen Netz und kann es einen Sieger geben? Die Geschichte ist wie eine tödliche Schlinge, die sich zuzieht und aus der es kein Entrinnen gibt. Es gibt nur die Möglichkeit, den Alptraum schön zu finden.

Der magische Berg hat es in sich. Wer bestimmt die Regeln? Der Rocker spricht von Freiheit, der Arzt vom Schmelzofen des Willens und Billy stottert von Liebe. Klara, die Puppe, ist eine junge Frau, die Rechenschaft ablegt, radikal mit Körper und Seele. Sie hat mit allen geschlafen und nun will sie etwas zurück. Die zeitweiligen Bergbewohner*innen geraten in einen emotionalen Wirbelsturm, in dem es um Liebe und Liebesweisen und um verborgene erotische Wünsche geht. Am Ende gerät alles aus den Fugen…

Global Belly portraitiert Menschen aus fünf Ländern im transnationalen Leihmutterschafts-Geschäft. In einem multiperspektivischen Parcours treffen windige Agenturchef*innen auf zufriedene Leihmütter und streitende Feminist*innen auf verzweifelte Wunscheltern. Ist Leihmutterschaft Arbeit, Nächstenliebe oder neokoloniale Praxis? Ein Abend zwischen grenzenloser Sehnsucht, fein justierter Intimität, heißen Debatten und der kühlen Logik des Marktes.

Ladies and gentlemen, dear friends and colleagues, dear audience,

Before we bid the year goodbye, we bring gifts of four end-of-the-year premieres: in Outland, Anne Habermehl explores social as well as individual mechanisms of exclusion, copy & waste show the second half of their four-part performance series on city and nature at their COPYSHOP OF HORRORS and then bring the series to a close in a brilliant binge-watch finale, internil’s third part of the GOG / MAGOG series deals with Israel, its past and present borders and border violations. And Dasniya Sommer and Florian Loycke have their own perspective on everyone’s favorite Danish prince: Hamlet and His Ghosts.

In four stations, Outland tells a story of exclusion – from society, from oneself, from one’s own body. Love, family, work – all that defines our social relationships and firmly ankers us in the now, is irrevocably capped in Anne Habermehl’s piece. Suddenly there is a giant gaping rift between “myself” and “the others”, which first has to be filled with meaning again – thus bringing up the fundamental question: how do we, as a society, handle injury.

For COPYSHOP OF HORRORS, copy & waste have invited colleagues from both science and the arts to explore the city as nature together. How is urban life today still the opposite of nature? This question leads us from community gardens, which have become viable alternative models of community and economy over the last years, to complex questions of global climate change. Housed in an empty store at the Ku’damm, COPYSHOP OF HORRORS addresses various aspects of this topic via dance, performance, discussion and music. A four-part performance series is created by copy & waste and three other artistic teams, inspired by the musical Little Shop of Horrors.

Tribal land. Holy land. Who has the rights to it? Who gives it its name? Who tells its story, in which language, and how? The trail of the dead in water and sand is a holy scripture, and war is the machine that reads and writes it.

At the third stage the GOG / MAGOG tour group bump into past and current borders and border violations. Yes and No, Right and Wrong, Freedom and Force, High and Low Tech cross borders and drag us along. Stop, show your papers, says GOG. Who dares say “we”?

Everybody knows the official story of Hamlet – that which happens when the curtain rises: how his father is poisoned, his uncle is the killer, his mother betrays him ... And how Hamlet starts to collect evidence. We want to tell the invisible story of Hamlet. The story, which happens when the curtain has been brought down. Hamlet’s ghost story, the unofficial version. This is a dream about Hamlet. This is what he told the housefly... This is how he fights with Ophelia and how he fights for her. And it is about what  happened in his mother’s bed and how the game unfolds… about who is who and who am I? What is dream and what is reality? Is Hamlet a girl? Was the ghost his father? Can you trust your own feelings, when you are alone? A dramatic theatre piece for one actor, one dancer and 24 puppets.

The magical mountain really packs a punch. Who makes the rules? The biker talks of freedom, the doctor about the burning flame of willpower and Billy stutters about love. Klara, the doll, is a young woman, seeking payback, radically with body and soul. She has slept with everyone and now she wants something back. The temporary mountain dwellers get caught up in an emotional whirlwind of love, alternative modes of love and hidden erotic desires. Until everything unravels…

Flinn Works: Global Belly

December 7th, 2017 at 6 pm, CREA Amsterdam

Flinn Works has undertaken research in five countries in order to gain a deeper understanding of gestational surrogacy. Global Belly portrays people entangled in the surrogacy business. In an installation-performance, breezy agents meet content surrogates, arguing feminists encounter loving fathers-to-be. The performance shifts between borderless desire, finely balanced intimacy, heated debate and the cool logic of the market.
